Do you know a person’s weight can fluctuate up to 2 kgs every day? Usually, it’s very difficult to understand health of a person just by their weight or height. A 6-feet person can weigh 75 kg or 85 kg and still be considered healthy and fit.

To bring uniformity in the whole process – we use BMI. It works for male, female, & 3rd gender – except children & old people.

So BMI, or Body Mass Index, is that value which tell us whether a person’s weight is underweight or overweight – according to their height. The BMI value obtained can be categorized into different ranges:

  • Underweight: BMI less than 18.5
  • Normal Weight: BMI between 18.5 and 24.9
  • Overweight: BMI between 25 and 29.9
  • Obese: BMI 30 or greater

Candidates falling under the Underweight & Obese categories can be rejected (or asked to reduce) from Police & Defense jobs. Although you should check the particular job notification for the exact requirements.

  1. Set Realistic Goals: Achieving 1 kg weight loss in a month is doable and reasonable.
  2. Regular Exercise: Incorporate regular physical activity into your daily routine. Aim for running – practice the running time as per the govt job.
  3. Healthy Diet: Focus on green – rainbow diet – and reduce junk food. I know they can’t be avoided altogether.
  4. Stay Hydrated: through out the day.
  5. Adequate Rest: lack of proper sleep has been found to contribute to weight gain.
  6. Monitor Progress: Come back to this website regularly – weekly or daily – to track your progress.

Lastly, if you’re new to the world of fitness – always consult a healthcare professional or fitness expert before starting any new exercise or diet regimen.
